In this course we will cover the essentials of control applied to power electronics, combining theory with TyphoonSim hands-on simulations for different relevant applications, such as the controls of DC-DC converters, grid-connected converters and PMSM motors. The course starts with a review of control theory fundamentals and then dives deeper into the particularities of each application, covering the modelling basics, how to specify the feedback loop, and how to design and test the controllers for each application.
Each module will be comprised of the video lessons, supplementary notes with a summary of the most relevant concepts, and hands-on simulation files. Modules also include quizzes, for certification, and homework assignments.
This course combines hands-on simulation sessions using TyphoonSim. For Academia, we offer full-featured, unlimited free licenses. To have access to the simulator, please request TyphoonSim access by submitting the request form using your university email address. If you encounter any issues, please follow our Quick Start Guide.
Module 1, Introduction and Fundamentals, of our five-part certificate course is now live. Additional modules will be released progressively, with the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion once the full course is released.
