HIL Fundamentals

HIL Fundamentals is the first course in the HIL Specialist 2.0 specialization program authored by Typhoon HIL engineers. This course series is designed to raise your skill and knowledge of the Typhoon HIL toolchain so that you can confidently and successfully execute your own hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) projects.
No matter what engineering domain you come from, the first step towards adopting hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) techniques is to understand the basics of the hardware and software you use. Join us as we explore the computing architecture of Typhoon HIL real-time simulators, and how you can interface your device under test. Then we go hands on, going step-by-step through using Typhoon HIL software tools to operate and automate your HIL testbed. Finally, we take an advanced look at the fundamentals behind everyday challenges and problems that you might encounter with real-time modeling and simulation. Learn how to troubleshoot and overcome them like a pro!

Great way to start your journey with Typhoon HIL

Typhoon HIL Control Centre provides a high variety of possibilities and, at the same time, was easy to pick up and learn some of the basic principles. Personally, I enjoyed making the model provided in the course and then interacting with it using HIL SCADA. Seeing the behavior of the model in Virtual HIL gave me a much better and more detailed understanding of the model. Great experience!

The course provides a good outline of how to use Typhoon HIL simulators

The part on Model partitioning was good. Providing a good insight on Troubleshooting is very important for future projects The audio voiceover of the courses can be improved

HIL Fundamentals are properly explained

Liked the Core Coupling Part, HIL Device Parallelling and Partitioning, C Code generation for TI Interface, Troubleshooting real-time models and the flags in HIL Scada.

Good introductory course

That's a good introductory course. Just some few parts are missing in my opinion, such as setting the gating signals from an external controller.

Quiz questions

Some of the quiz questions were too specific for someone who has been taking the course without using the program for a long time. I answered 32 of the 39 questions correctly, but honestly, out of at least five of them, I had no idea what the right answer was.
